PUBSBoard of Directors Meeting Minutes
Date: 4-3-14 Location: Out of Bounds Brewing Co. Attendees: Rick & Cindy Lee, Don Isbell, David Long, Tim Dozier, Chris Kuhn, Niki McCargar, Josh Stout, Chris Holland, Big Mike, Becky, Sarah
Tim Dozier called the meeting to order at approximately 6:43 pm.

March Brew Competition Winners: Tim Dozier – General vote, Judges vote, and Wall vote (15 points)
Club Expenses: Don reported there was about $3,200 in the club account the last time he had talked to Jeff. The board approved Don to order new T-shirts, which will be a thinner and lighter material.
Club Activities: - PUBS Beer Camp Stars-N-Suds is the weekend of June 28th. There is limited space. RSVP on Meet Up to reserve your spot. Payments are now being accepted! Any questions contact Cynthia. - State Fair commercial beer judging is in need of stewards. See Cynthia if you would like to help or if you have any questions. - State Fair Homebrew competition deadline is the first week of May. - AHA event hosted by Steve Dalberg will be on May 3rd. - Brewers 101 event hosted by Cynthia to happen possibly in May. More details to come. - Club Competition: Iron Brewer. Competition will happen sometime in May and possibly at the Placer Fairgrounds. Rules and more details to come. - Big Mike is possibly doing a beer pairing dinner in July. More details to come.
New Judging and Voting Method - The board wanted to try a new way of judging and voting during the meeting. It will go like this: When each person comes in the will be handed a poker chip with a number on it. Each person with the same number will then get together at a table and each table will judge the beers with a laminated BJCP simple score sheet. The group will then vote on their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place beers. - Possibly have each person who brings a beer fill out an entry form. - Big Mike to discuss and explain the score sheet. - Have a recipe of the beer style that month projected after Big Mike presentations. - Possibly not have a competition each month to cover more topics and the keep meeting at a good length. - Board discussed limiting the amount of Wall beers to 8 and only 1 beer per person can be entered.
Misc. - Possible “For Sale” page to be added to offer PUBS people things, such as equipment, before going straight to Craigslist or other sites. - Proposal to have different PUBS members do presentations on different things during the meeting, for example: starters, conversion, off flavors, etc. - The club will vote to approve the changes made to the by-laws this meeting on April 24th. - JJ from Bone Shaker to hopefully do a 10-15 minute talk during the meeting to tell their story and answer any questions. - Non-profit status: Dave was unable to find on any clubs website that they have the 501C3 status, but GCBA and Greenbelt do have the 501C3. It is just not stated on their websites. - Board wants PUBS to do more things for the community by volunteering, getting involved with the SPCA, etc. - There is a casting for a possible TV opportunity for home brewers.
