P. U. B. S. Board of Directors Meeting Minutes 2/7/2013 Next Board Meeting: March 7th @ 6:30 PM – Location: TBD Next General Meeting: February 21 @ 6:30 – Location: Owl Club

Attendees: Mark Law, Tim Dozier, Don Isbell, Josh Denton, Cynthia and Rick Lee, Chris Kuhn and Niki, Mike Moore, Cian Boland, Hardiman Curetonii and David Long

Mark Law called the meeting to order at approximately 6:20PM.

Club Competition Brewing Schedule: Tim presented a proposed brewing schedule that listed most of the styles and a suggested month. He also proposed that we have the club vote on the style of the month. David had some reservations because not all styles were represented, and that it would take more the 3 years to cover those styles listed, so no final decision was made on the schedule; however, the Directors, with the help of Big Mike, did set the brew schedule for the next few months as follows:

February – Porters and Stouts March – Bocks April – Hellas, Pilsners and American Lagers May – Altbeir, Weizens and Kolsch June – Belgian Ales July – ESB and Bitters, Brown Ales and Milds

Hardiman also brought up that we should plan on brewing a beer the fits the selected style for the Northern California Homebrewers Festival in September.

Sacramento Beer Week: Josh reminded the Board that Sacramento Beer Week is almost on us, and thought that the Club should be involved with some scheduled activities. Here a list of some of the activities that the club will be involved with:

Saturday, Feb 23rd – Brewing Demonstration at the Roseville Brewmeister. PUBS will be demonstrating different brewing technics on 5 different systems.

Sunday, Feb 24th – “Capital City Brewers Battle” at the Capitol Tap Room. Come cheer on 5 of your own PUBS members as they put their brewing skills to the test against some of area’s best homebrews. Event starts at 11:00.

Tuesday, Feb 26th - Speed Ball Tournament on the 26th. We need members to join the game to help the PUBS Club take down the competition. Contact Josh for more details.

Saturday, Mar. 2nd – Capital Brew Festival. Donate 5 Gallons of beer and serve at the PUBS Table to earn a free ticket.

Treasurer’s Report: Don gave a report on the club’s membership and finances. As of the meeting we have 33 paid memberships in the club, and over $1800 in the bank to cover club expenses. Here’s a partial list of what the money is/will be used for:

- Legal fees (i.e., 501C3 Filing, Taxes) - Accounting Software – Quickbooks - Holiday Party - Commercial Beer Samples for General Meetings - Raffle Items (please feel free to donate items for the raffle!) - PUBS Banner (future) - Shade Structure for events (future) - Membership Cards - Jockey Box (future) - Misc. item to support the club

Sergeant of Arms Board Position Proposed: It was proposed that the club create Sergeant of Arms position. This member would be responsible for keeping meetings in order and resolving any disputes between members based on the club by-laws.

This new position will have to be voted on by the general membership at the next meeting, because the club by-laws will have to be updated.

Style Guru: Mike Moore agreed to be our style guru, and speak about styles at our general meetings. Mike will present Stouts and Porters at this month’s meeting.

Process Guy: David Long agreed to be our process guy, and speak about various aspect of the brewing process at future club meetings. David agreed to talk about brewing grains at this months meeting.

The meeting was brought to a close at approximately 7:45.
