Attendees: Mark Law, Tim Dozier, Don Isbell, Josh Denton, Rick and Cynthia Lee, Dagan Henderson, Hardiman Cureton II and David Long
Mark Law called the meeting to order at approximately 6:40 PM.
501 (c) 3 Status: No new update. Currently waiting on our Incorporation from the State. Paperwork has been filed. Once we have been Incorporated we’ll be able to file for our 501 (c) 3, Tax ID Number and Resale License.
Treasurer’s Report: Don gave a report on the club’s membership and finances. The club has a little over $2000 in the bank to cover club expenses. The directors in attendance gave their approval to move forward with the purchase of a good quality shade structure and two fold up tables to be used for events. These items have been order and will be received soon.
Name Tags: The use of nametags was again brought up to help persuade people attending the meetings to join the club. Paid members would get a “PUBS” nametag and guests would get a “Guest” nametag. Don Isbell will design the nametags.
Club Competition Brewing Schedule: The Board added August – February beer styles. March - Bocks April – Hellas, Pilsners and American Lagers May – Altbeir, Weizens and Kolsch June – Belgian Ales July – ESB and Bitters, Brown Ales and Milds (New) August – American Ales (Pale, Amber and Brown Ales) (New) September – IPA (English, American and Imperial IPAs) (New) October – European Amber Lager (Vienna Lager, Oktoberfest/Marzen) (New) November – Freestyle (Enter anything you want!) (New) December – Spiced and Specialty Beers (New) January – Strong Ales and Barleywines (New) February – Porters and Stouts
Cellarmaster Guidelines: David Long proposed a set of guideline (see attachment) in order to assist new Cellarmasters with their duties. Tim Dozier has offered to present them at the next meeting.
Guest Speakers: • Robert Whistler, Owner/Founder of Lockdown Brewery, will be speaking to the club at our next general meeting. The topic will be Contract Brewing. • Big Mike will be sharing his lager beer knowledge with us. • In the coming months we will have speakers from Loomis Basin Brewing Company and American River Brewery.
Upcoming Activities: • Brewer Equipment Swap and Sale – April 27th at the Roseville Brewing Company. Bring you old or unused equipment and either swap it for other equipment or sell it. Rumor has it that if you donate an item (greater $5 value), the club will issue you a ticket good for one RBC brew! • American Homebrewers Big Brew Day – May 4th. Here’s another opportunity to brew with fellow club members. If you’re interested in hosting this event (or future event), please let one of the board member know. • Starz and Sudz – PUBS 1st Annual Beer Camp – June 28th – 30th. This is going to be a fun event, and we are hope for a great turnout. Details can be found at our website – PlacerBrewer.org.
Recipe Site: Members have been asking for a place to share recipes. Dagan, our resident web master, has offered to create a site for us to do this; however, this will take several months. In the meantime we will be using the BeerSmithCloud.com website to share our recipes. If you would like a recipe posted, send David Long (David.Long@Placerbrewers.org) an email with the recipe, or requested recipe, and he will post it. The recipe’s will be stored under the “PUBS” account, so if you search for “PUBS” they’ll show up.
PUBS Pod Cast: Dagan and Big Mike created and published the club’s first Pod Cast! The topic is Bock Beer. The Pod Cast can be found at the following link: http://placerbrewers.org/blog/2013/03/episode-1-bocks/ Great job guys! Looking forward to many more.
